Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates includes text commentary for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests was the amount of penalties each conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it proved good to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender in CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on of the season, it was noted during a show how the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

New tight end their tight end has excelled significantly and recent RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver are a squad aiming to run first, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to pass all over, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His assets are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, as well as finding different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

When you consistently rush it eats up time and makes the defence to be in play for longer, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really develop him the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.

The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements Denver are having on offence is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their strength, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.

This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
