The President Calls Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she also intended to speak to the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
