Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an better serving game.
He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
