Glenn noted that Boyd, currently in the hospital, was “upbeat” during their latest talk. “That gives me comfort, is that he’s feeling positive,” Glenn stated on Wednesday. “His family, they are doing well and he will walk away from this just fine.” It remained unclear when Boyd might be released the medical facility, where he is reported as serious yet stable. “Not certain at the moment,” he added. “Yet I must mention, hearing him speak, his attitude was encouraging. Once more, that reassures me, given his positive frame of mind and his words reflect that optimism.” New York police released security footage Monday of a man sought in the shooting of Boyd. The reason behind the incident is currently under review and officials stated it remains uncertain if Boyd was targeted. There were no additional victims were reported. The incident occurred just after 2am on Sunday morning about halfway between the famous arena and Times Square. Boyd, 29, was transported to Bellevue Hospital after suffering a wound to the stomach, according to authorities. The assailant escaped. Glenn mentioned Boyd has been on his mind “a ton” since the news broke. The coach said that Boyd and his wife just had a baby. “The first thing I thought about, he just had a kid,” Glenn noted. “I thought of his spouse, worrying about his newborn and I hope he recovers fully. That was my main concern. “There’s a process to this, that I won’t detail, but I’m happy at the fact that he will recover excellently.” Boyd hasn’t played this season, his first with the Jets, after being placed on injured reserve on August 18 with an injury to his shoulder that needed an operation. He signed with New York as a free agent in March and was projected as a key part of the team’s updated special teams under the coach and special teams coordinator the special teams coach. But Boyd was injured during a practice session on 2 August and was taken away on a cart. Boyd has stayed involved with the squad throughout the season while working his way back. “He has stayed engaged with the team,” Glenn stated. “I mean, he comes to the games all the time. He is completely involved. Given his status as a special teams standout, he has been instrumental in guiding others.” Boyd, from Texas, played his first four seasons with Minnesota after being a seventh-round pick by the Vikings out of UT in 2019. He joined the Arizona Cardinals in last year and then joined Houston’s practice squad later that season. Boyd signed a one-year contract worth $1.6m with the Jets in March.
