Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
