Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that attracts so many people into the NFL

This outcome may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a remaining games that gives them an advantage over their eight and two competitors

Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award

The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for Buffalo?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen attempt too much or was it just a bad day for the Bills?

Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address

The Buffalo squad had won seven in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and display

MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - yes Miami had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's best offenses

Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns

Containing the league's best running game was crucial too, with Cook and company registering just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5-yard average

Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine-minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to seven points just two plays

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season

Miami have demonstrated a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of a trend, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the Patriots, they're one of three different eight and two squads in the NFL, all AFC sides, but are they the best?

You can pick holes in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their combined 24 victories coming against opponents with a winning record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver

Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement

Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven consecutive victories, similar to Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was huge

Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he definitely earns point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his side to victory

The defensive unit is reliable and first-year running back Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his first score

While you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the top record thanks to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against Buffalo

Visiting Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who might also compete for first place but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list

The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There's a long way to travel but the door is available for a shock number one position in the AFC

Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Next Week Clash

Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each put up 40 burgers to go to seven and two before the upcoming major game between the two in Los Angeles

They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a contest

Each could realistically be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a score

The Seahawks also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the best sides in the league

The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season to date
