Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
